The simplicity and charm of the more primitive rugs of the Early American home are classified as folk art because the personality and individuality of each make comes through in color choices and modifications of designs. When the burlap bags used for cotton or grain became readily available in America, the hooked rugs' popularity soared. The bags, slit open at the seams became the backing for a small rug. These designed were adapted from early primitive rug designs. - Two rugs and two pillows are silk screened on an 11" fabric square. The patterns require a #1 and #3 punchneedle. Additional supplies and thread suggestions are listed on the instruction sheet included with the pattern. - Finished sizes: House rug is 3" x 4-1/4" Rooster Rug is 2-3/8" x 3-1/2" and the two pillows are 1-1/8" in diameter. - Furniture not included. Beautiful alternative to French knot rug making for one-inch (1:12) scale dollhouse miniatures.
