The pioneers of the early 17th Century in America used homemade rugs that served as accessories for the sanded or painted wooden floors. As the European immigrants arrived with their patterns, they began to adapt and incorporate these designs and colors into the loomed, hooked and braided rugs of the era. The inspiration for the dainty floral motifs on these two rugs came from the embroideries in Elizabeth Townsend's personal album--signed and dated 1815. Two patterns silk-screened onto an 11" fabric square requires and #1 and #6 (for fringe) punchneedle. Additional supplies and suggested threads are listed on the instruction sheet included with the patterns. Finished sizes(s) 4.5" square and a 3-1/4" round rug. Beautiful alternative to French knot rug making for one-inch (1:12) scale dollhouse miniatures.
