Product Description
This miniature is a loose representation of a style patented by German immigrant, John Henry Belter, who became an American citizen in 1839. Belter referred to himself as a cabinet "manufacturer" and was best known for his innovative process of laminating more layers of wood than his competitors and creating extraordinarily intricate carvings while maintaining strength and durability. Mr. Belter was considered a master craftsman during the mid 1800's best known for his Rococo Revival pieces. The Belter name has become a catch-all general description for the style.Measuring about 4-1/4" wide by 6-1/4" long by 4" high, this Belter style mahogany bed is a one-inch (1:12) scale dollhouse miniature with a pale aqua on aqua brocade-like fabric bedspread attached to the bed and two matching pillows.
