This nice-quality flooring is made of genuine black walnut wood veneers which features a self-adhesive backing. One 11" x 17" sheet per package. Covers 187 square inches. Installation options include adhering directly to floor or installing on cardboard and sliding into place beneath baseboard. No glue needed. I recommend sanding the sheet lightly and applying stain and/or 1 to 3 coats of polyurethane before installing. Sanding will result in a light coating of sawdust falling into any gaps that might be present between the strips. Due to the nature and thickness of the wood veneers it is not uncommon to find some gaps between the floorboards. The sawdust helps to eliminate or conceal some of these irregularities. After sanding lightly wipe a piece of cotton fabric across the grain of the flooring to help clear access for the top of the floor boards and into any spaces/gaps between. I also recommend creating a paper pattern using photocopy paper of the room then transferring the pattern to flooring sheet. This method is particularly useful when wall angles in the rooms are not perfectly square and especially in irregularly configured room. It is also worth noting that application of polyurethane seal coat will help keep the floorboards from drying out and/or popping up over time.
